HCS Alternative Education wishes to make a best fit schedule for every student. We would also like to promote students courage to try courses outside their past practice or comfort curriculum.
Yet, Alternative Education recognizes there are licensing, instructional and other expenses incurred after a specified time. Therefore, students will need to adhere to the set window of time.
No less than two weeks, but no more than three weeks from the start of the semester will be allotted for students to request their online course schedule change. Students/Parents should notify the Alternative Education as soon as possible to request changes in schedule.

Keeping track of assignments, due dates, grades and overall course progress is difficult for many students. As adults we realize, however, these organizational skills are essential for success in college, career and life. Help your student navigate the learning systems.
MiStar - HCS' one login for easy monitoring of lunch account balances, attendance records, and grading! Many teachers leave detailed notes about student behavior or assignment completion in the notes section.
Having difficulty with your Parent Connect pin or password, or you need to set up a new account, please email pc@hartlandschools.us. (All requests should receive a response within one to two school days).

For parents with online learners... Help Monitor Success
APEX - One of the online systems HCS uses for instructional delivery. Students read, watch, interact and submit instructional content on this system. There is no separate parent portal. While progress and final grades will be entered into MiStar for parent view at the card markings, parents are encouraged to ask their student to login and print or show his/her progress. APEX offers multiple reports that show when your student last accessed the program, how long he or she has engaged with the content, difficulties that may be occurring and much more.
MIVU - Another of the online systems HCS uses for instructional delivery. Students read, watch, interact and submit instructional content on this system. There is a separate "Guardian Account" available through Michigan Virtual that will allow everyday access to student classes and progress. Final grades will be entered into MiStar for parent view at the card markings. MIVU offers multiple reports that show when your student last accessed the program, how long he or she has engaged with the content, difficulties that may be occurring and much more.
